    German President welcomed to Windsor with military pageantry

    Centuries of shared military history were brought to life as the Armed Forces provided a spectacular ceremonial welcome for Germany’s President and First Lady at Windsor Castle. It was the first visit by a German President in 27 years.

    President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender were greeted with the full splendour of British military tradition during their State Visit to the UK from 3 to 5 December, hosted by Their Majesties The King and The Queen.

    German President next leader for UK State visit

    Windsor Castle: German President announced as next leader for UK state visit

    Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will stay at Windsor Castle for a state visit to the United Kingdom later this year, it has been announced.  

    King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to host the President and his wife Elke Büdenbender, the First Lady of Germany, in Windsor for the three day visit from December 3 to December 5.  

    President Steinmeier will be the third international dignitary to be hosted at Windsor Castle for a state visit in 2025, and the first German leader to visit the UK on an official visit in 27 years.
