Your Community, Your Voice

Tranquillity near Windsor’s heart

Fountain Gardens is a private residential estate just moments from Windsor’s iconic Long Walk and its town centre.  The estate sits on a generous site beside Windsor Great Park, and offers a mix of properties, some with views across the Park to the Long Walk and Windsor Castle, whilst others overlooking beautifully landscaped communal gardens.

Beyond the setting and location, what truly makes Fountain Gardens special and a truly attractive place to live, is the strong sense of community that runs throughout the estate.

Living in Fountain Gardens

Fountain Gardens covers a spacious site at the eastern end of Osborne Road adjacent to Windsor Great Park.

The estate was built in 1980-82, and comprises houses, flats and maisonettes. House-owners subsequently acquired their freeholds. In recent years, a significant number of maisonette and flat owners have successfully obtained lease extensions, thereby securing longer lease terms.

Fountain Gardens History and how we came to be

The Gordon Cullingham Newsletters were written when he was chairman of the Windsor Local History Group and contain many snippets of his personal research not published elsewhere.

Whilst browsing through these earlier this year I came across this entry, “Osborne Road Fountain. June 27 1888, Portland stone fountain presented by Henri J Henry of Queensmead (Director of Old Windsor Tapestry manufactory).

Removed in the 1930’s, when the roundabout was built, to Maidenhead Road Nursery.Plans to reconstruct don’t seem to have gone ahead.
My curiosity was aroused as a local historian, and a resident in Osborne Road.

“Jan 1st 1889
To G.H. Peters, Esq., L.C.
With H. Henry’s compliments
A.W. Macdonald”

1 January 1889, addressed to G.H. Peters (Mayor at the time of the fountain’s presentation), with compliments H. Henry (the donor of the fountain), signed by H.W. Macdonald (local photographer (Eton/Windsor) active in the late 1880s–early 1900s).

Fountain Gardens is proud to have an active Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, with resident Aly Carswell as our local co-ordinator. Being part of Neighbourhood Watch helps make our community safer, friendlier, and more connected. Members receive up-to-date crime prevention advice, support from local police, and reassurance that neighbours are looking out for one another. By working together, we can deter crime, protect our homes, and create a stronger sense of community spirit. We encourage all residents to get involved – even small actions make a big difference.
